Existential Analysis

What is Existential Analysis?

Existential Analysis (EA) can be understood as a person centered psychotherapy with the aim of guiding a person to a (spiritually and emotionally) free way of experiencing life. This can be achieved through cultivating a deep inner relationship with both ourselves and the world as well as responding to our circumstances in an authentic and responsible manner.

Existential Analysis was developed by Dr. Alfried Laengle who worked closely with Viktor Frankl in the development of Logotherapy. Existential Analysis integrates logotherapy (meaning therapy) in its application.

How does it work?

Psychotherapeutic process of existential analysis:

  • Development of cognition and perception.

  • Integration of biographical information

  • Discovering authentic and values driven forms of expression

  • Training and realization of meaningful behavior.
